Helping Our Parents Excel (HOPE) Parenting Program

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row]

Mondays, Apr 15 – Jun 24, 2019

[/et_pb_text]Each child is as unique as the challenges we face in parenting them. Guardian House recognizes the struggles that most parents face and is focused on providing support and understanding for all individuals who care for a child.

Attending parenting education classes does not mean that you are a terrible parent or that you can’t learn and grow in your parenting skills. Just the opposite is true! By enrolling in a parenting education class demonstrates that you highly value your children and are committed to strengthening the family bond that you have with them. We know that parent education promotes well-being and builds stronger families and communities.

[/et_pb_section][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

2018 Fourth Annual Guardian House Luncheon Keynote Speaker

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

As a husband and father, Mayor Ron Nirenberg understands that our families are the cornerstone of the city. A devoted public servant, Mayor Nirenberg has been a champion for San Antonio’s families by working to stop child abuse and promote healthy eating and exercise. Mayor Ron Nirenberg and family Both initiatives are the foundation that Guardian House strives to prevent and promote, respectively. Supportive of the work Guardian House is doing, the mayor said,

“Guardian House is doing some of the most difficult, important work imaginable. Helping children and their families navigate through troubled times, they give their clients the support and tools needed to end conflict and build healthy relationships.”

Guardian House’s Executive Director, Shannon White, said,

“Strong families make a unified city that promotes the right kind of growth. Our goal, with the support of leaders like Mayor Nirenberg, is to teach individuals how to be the best citizens and parents. By working together, and putting systems in place that protect the children from potential violence during custodial visits, we keep our city safe.”

We are thrilled that Mayor Ron Nirenberg is the keynote speaker at our fourth annual luncheon on March 26, 2018.  We encourage everyone to join us at Pearl Stable to meet the mayor and others that support San Antonio families. Click here to see your invitation to our upcoming event.

Sondra Grohman, President & CEO, Shining Star ENERGY

Sondra-Grohman

[/et_pb_section][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

2018 Fourth Annual Guardian House Luncheon Honoree

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Sondra Grohman has a zest for helping people. How this President of Shining Star ENERGY finds time to do it all is amazing. In 2016, she was inducted into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame in the Agriculture division and is involved with countless initiatives that help underprivileged girls and boys in the San Antonio area.

Grohman’s past has not been easy. Many years ago under Guardian House’s former name, Kids Exchange, she found herself in the middle of a custody battle. Grohman was approached by the Arbitrator in her divorce and asked if she would be willing to sign over her Parental Rights to the Arbitrator in return for a 49/51% more visitation time with her son; she adamantly refused. So in response to her reply the Arbitrator then imposed supervised visitation. She became a client of Kid’s Exchange (Guardian House’s former name). She was left with no other choice than to see her son under supervised visitation in order to preserve her Parental Rights with her son.

When discussing what the Guardian Angel award means to her, she tearfully said,

“It means that I’ve come full circle. This will mean more to me than any other award I’ve ever gotten.”

As the eldest of eight children, she credits her mother and paternal grandmother for her philanthropic spirit. When asked what her life-purpose is, she proclaimed that she is the “protector of children” and will fight wherever there is a need. Her own city-wide scholarship program is called ‘I AM – I CAN – WATCH ME, Shining Star ENERGY.’ This is a program designed to award scholarships to high school seniors for educational expenses.

Guardian House is honoring Sondra Grohman for her contribution to the people of San Antonio on March 26, 2018 at Pearl Stable. Click here to see your invitation.
