Supervised Visitation

About Supervised Visitation

Supervised visitation allows children to spend time with their non-custodial parent in a safe, therapeutic environment facilitated by a trained professional. This service helps maintain, rebuild, or establish healthy parent-child relationships while ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone involved.

Security

Guardian House is committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment for every child and family we serve.

Our facility is a secure, locked campus equipped with 24/7 surveillance throughout to ensure the safety of all clients, staff, and visitors. To provide an added layer of protection, a law enforcement officer is on-site at all times during service hours.

While security is a top priority, we intentionally balance it with a therapeutic and child-friendly atmosphere. Our space is designed with comforting colors, age-appropriate activities, and trauma-informed features that help reduce anxiety and promote healing. From playrooms to private counseling spaces, every detail of our facility supports safety, dignity, and emotional well-being.

About the Supervisor

A trained supervisor is present at all times during visits. Their responsibilities include:

  • Observing and documenting interactions (without personal opinions or recommendations)
  • Redirecting behavior if program policies are not followed
  • Supporting positive engagement between parent and child
  • Providing gentle guidance on parenting skills (e.g., diaper changing, time-outs)

Parents are encouraged to participate in our free Parenting Education classes, which offer tools and techniques that can be applied during visits.

We understand that supervised visitation can feel awkward at first. Most parents and children adjust quickly and begin to enjoy their time together in this supportive setting.

Activities During Visits

Our center offers a variety of family-friendly activities to support connection and bonding:

  • Cooking or baking in one of our on-site kitchens
  • Playing on our outdoor playground
  • Board games, video games, and toys for imaginative play
  • Arts and crafts
  • Reading books together

Parents are also welcome to bring age-appropriate activities from home. While extended family may be present during visits, the primary focus is on strengthening the parent-child relationship.
