Internship Program

Practicum & Internship Opportunities

Guardian House offers Practicum and Internship opportunities for Master’s-level students seeking hands-on experience working with children and families. Each semester, we host up to 10 interns who gain direct experience primarily in our Supervised Visitation, Monitored Kids Exchange, Mental Health Counseling, and Parenting Education programs.

Interns and practicum students work closely with an on-site supervisor to create a schedule that meets both their school’s required hours and Guardian House’s participation requirements.

Why Choose Guardian House?

  • Hands-on experience with children and families in a supervised setting.
  • Exposure to Solution-Focused Therapy and other clinical practices.
  • Opportunities to learn in multiple programs: visitation, counseling, and education.
  • Supportive supervision and mentorship.

Guidelines for Placement

  • Apply Early: Submit requests at least 12–16 weeks in advance as positions fill quickly.
  • School Documentation: Guardian House provides required site information, but students must ensure their school receives all completed documents.
  • Hour Management: Students are responsible for monitoring progress and requesting additional hours when needed.
  • Eligibility:
    • Applicants must be enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling or related graduate program with career goals of becoming an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.
    • Not suitable for non-clinical programs (e.g., business, administrative internships).
  • Commitment: A minimum two-semester commitment is required due to the depth of training involved.
