Guardian House is currently offering free Triple P Parenting classes

As COVID-19 continues to change our communities, parents face new and unique parenting challenges. School closures, social distancing, and reductions in services have shifted the world children were familiar with, creating unintended consequences for their health and well-being. The new Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) helps parents cope with the pandemic’s impact on family life.
Through a collaboration between the San Antonio Metro Health San Antonio Area Foundation and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, Guardian House is proud to be a an online provider of the Group Triple P Parenting Course. Parents and families can take the online Group Triple P classes free of charge.

Guardian House COVID-19 Safety and Sanitation Measures – January 2021

Guardian House will continue to ensure that our families, children, staff, deputies, interns and volunteers are safe and protected as the pandemic continues.
We continue to partake in daily and weekly sanitizing and cleaning protocols.
Supervised visitations, monitored exchanges, and reunification counseling services continue to be provided on a limited basis on-site. We continue to offer virtual options as well for all services to include parenting courses and counseling services.

Tentative Reopening on June 1, 2020

We will tentatively reopen on Monday, June 1. If something changes in our community then that date may also change. We will continue to keep you posted. Until then, tele-services will continue.  [/box]
We have been preparing for reopening to ensure that, once we do, everyone stays healthy. We will have more details as we get closer to our reopen date, but these are some of our considerations to maintain safety:

 

  • Gradual reopening – some services will continue via telehealth
  • Screening of clients before they come to the facility
  • Everyone must wear masks 
  • Contactless temperature check before entering building
  • Children younger than 2 may not come to facility
  • Installation of plexiglass at front desk
  • Contactless payment
  • Spreading out office space
  • Increased time between appointments to allow for sanitizing
  • Limit number of people in the office

End of Year Appeal

“The last memory he had of his dad was a happy one.  He had his ‘Dad Box’…a shoebox with a collection of the things that he would bring to share with his dad. They laughed and played that day.  It was a really good day.”

This memory was shared by a counselor at Guardian House about the boy’s last supervised visit with his father a few weeks before his father died by suicide. We were deeply saddened by this family’s loss and tremendously inspired by the boy’s strength.
