During Group
Participants have the opportunity to learn positive coping skills, achieve peer connection, remove isolation that can follow transition and create a network of support in a safe and caring environment. Art therapy (and play therapy for children) is an integral component of the curriculum.
Our Teen Family Focus Groups provide our participants the freedom to express concerns and issues related to family transitions (divorce/separation, blended families, moving houses, loss of loved one, etc). However, teens are also experiencing challenges within their peer groups dealing with bullying, relationships, risky behaviors, and academic/familial responsibilities that may affect their everyday lives. Our groups touch on these areas in a caring environment that allows them to openly discuss their thoughts and feelings. We include art and play interventions as an outlet and a tool for effective psycho-education. Our teens are able to learn more about their strengths, cope with family situations, and create heartfelt bonds with their peers.
